Maltese-inspired minimalist art prints of ‘usually busy places’ during lockdown
Called Quarantime, the prints are available for purchase online from Torri, an ongoing creative project and shop that Scott runs with his friend Andrea Camilleri. All proceeds will go to the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation, Malta’s local food bank.
Torri was founded in 2017 when Andrea and Scott, who barely knew each other despite attending the same high and post-secondary schools, coincidentally joined the same design class. What started as a school project ended up igniting the spark that brought together their love for the Maltese Islands and their passion for art.
“The famous Red Tower, or ‘It-Torri L-Aħmar’, has a special place in our hearts. As well as being one of Malta’s main landmarks, this tower takes us back to the hot summer days on the nearby Mellieħa beach or en route to the Gozo Canal,” says Scott “For us, it’s a landmark that brings back those nostalgic childhood memories.
“Our brand aims to capture the simplistic beauty of the Maltese Islands, with no frills. Just as the Red Tower brings back memories of our youth, we have developed a series of Maltese-inspired prints and illustrations with the intent on capturing the essence of Malta and the sweet memories that go with it.”
